SG13 Reservation Experience

It’s a done deal! In the early part of December, I will join Travel China Guide on the SG13 four day tour of Beijing, taking in the renouned sites of Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall, Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven.

Our accommodation will be a deluxe room at the five star Great Wall Hotel in Chaoyang District, formerly the Sheraton.

In between our exciting schedule will be stops at the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium, Xishui Market, a Kungfu show, and a chance to try out authentic Peiking duck.

Come the time, I will cover all the action in detail through a special post updated every night, similar to my Yangshuo adventure.

First Contact

I have corresponded with Nicole Yang for some time. She is the marketing manager of Travel China Guide based in Xi-an, but the main contact for reserving any of the tours is Abbey Cheng, your private travel consultant.

While you can reserve tours at short notice, I suggest you plan in advance so that availability doesn’t become an issue (The average group size is 14 people), and there are certain documents such as the Tibetan Travel Permit, which we obtain for you, but requires a few days to process.

Most, if not all of your correspondance will be through e-mail. Whatever your travel needs, Abbey will respond quickly to your inquiries, and happily guide you through the simple reservation process in great English.

There is a variety of convenient payment options, and once you have provided a copy of your travel document, you will receive confirmation of your booking, and an invitation letter to assist with the Chinese visa process, should you need it.

Detailed itinerary for SG13

Today’s highlight is to visit Mutianyu Great Wall. The round-trip cable car is included. We will specially provide red wine for a group-toasting on the Great Wall. The restaurants nearby the site are of low standard, so we do not arrange the lunch today. It may be the best that you have a big breakfast at the hotel and have some fast food for lunch by yourself. Our guide will show you some restaurants. In the afternoon, on the way back to downtown we will have a photo stop at the Olympic National Stadium (Bird’s Nest). Afterwards, you will enjoy some free time at the famous Xiushui market. (B)

Accommodation: The Great Wall Hotel Beijing (5 stars) – the former Sheraton – deluxe room

Day 03(Dec 10, Tue): Beijing
Visit the world famous Tian’anmen Square and the Forbidden City this morning. To avoid the cheap tourist restaurant as the most are doing now, we specially serve you an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) at a very decent restaurant, where you can have a taste of authentic Chinese food and the most famous Peking Roast Duck. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven. The evening will be highlighted by a lively Chinese Kung Fu Show at the Red Theatre. (B+L)

Accommodation: The Great Wall Hotel Beijing (5 stars) – the former Sheraton – deluxe room

Friendly Tips: This tour includes the round-way cable car fees at Mutianyu Great Wall. However, if you are interested in taking the chairlift up and toboggan down the wall, we can also arrange that for you.

Day 04(Dec 11, Wed): Departure from Beijing
Today you will travel to the airport for your departing flight by yourself. Due to different flight schedules, the hotel-airport transfer service is not included. But we are glad to assist you if you need. We wish you a nice journey home and memories to last a lifetime. (B)
